Create The Magic Of Giving Foundation, Inc. was formally
established as a non-profit organization during the month of February 1991 after
being in existence as Create The Magic Of Christmas for the previous 9 years.
As a non-profit organization [501](c)(3)–T.I.N. 33-048713] it is comprised of
volunteers throughout southern California and in Seattle, Washington.
As of this writing, we are in the process of establishing
branches in other cities throughout the United States. The Foundation also
associates itself with businesses and other organizations that support the work
of the Foundation by encouraging the participation of their staff and membership
to contribute their time and talents to the organization’s work. The Foundation
does not have any paid staff and its small operating budget is supported by way
of periodic fund-raisers and interest/dividends from savings.
The Foundation is dedicated to providing supplemental services to
the homeless, abandoned and underprivileged children found in those communities
wherever it is established. It accepts donations of food, new toys and clothing
throughout the year and sponsors events dedicated to the distribution of these
items either on a direct placement basis or through pre-screened charitable
organizations. All financial contributions made directly to the Foundation are
used to supplement the material donations or maintain the organization – both of
which are dedicated to the children.
The Create The Magic Of Giving Foundation, Inc. had its origin
during the early part of December 1982 when a group of friends held a party
during the Chanukah and Christmas holidays. Admittance to the party required
that each guest bring at least one gift for a needy child. The party was a huge
success and over 100 gifts were collected and donated to the Salvation Army for
distribution to any child or parent seeking assistance at the Los Angeles Zion
Center.
Since that time, the Foundation has joined with organizations
such as TLC Cares at Transamerica Life Companies, Universal Studios, Aegon USA,
churches, small businesses, and other organizations such as schools, to expand
the scope of potential donors. Donation drives are held throughout the year to
gather food, toys, and new clothes for distribution. During the summer months
(Angels of Summer Program) food and clothing are emphasized. Toys are added to
the list in the winter and during holiday periods. As the Foundation’s
donations have increased, so has its ability to make distributions to thousands
of homeless and indigent children, either directly by Foundation volunteers, or
by way of multiple charitable organizations within the communities served.
On the 19th of March, 1999, the California Legislature
passed a resolution tendered by the Honorable Gilbert Cedillo commending our
Founder John F. (Jack) Denman and the Foundation for its outstanding work in the
community. Specifically the resolution says, “Resolved by Assembly Member,
Gilbert Cedillo, That John F. (Jack) Denman be commended on his unparalleled
record of personal, professional and civic achievement, particularly on his role
as founder of Create The Magic Of Giving Foundation, Incorporated, that has
benefited tens of thousands of children throughout Southern California, and
conveys sincere best wishes for continued success in his future endeavors.”
